Correspondence, lectures, broadcast talks, newscuttings, teaching notes, printed items and other papers relating to publishing in Australia. The papers date mostly from the period after 1975 and include files on the Plain English Committee, the Australia Council, the Library Association of Australia, Clive Fitts, children's literature, Harry Maude, Grahame Johnstone and Andrew Fabinyi. The pre-1975 material consists mainly of broadcast talks, public lectures and some correspondence. This includes a file of speeches given at the Melbourne Beefsteak Club.

Dr Fabinyi came to Australia from Hungary in 1939. He became chairman and managing director of the Cheshire group of publishing and bookselling companies.
